Elkhorn Indian Residential School (Washakada Home for Girls and Kasota Home for Boys) was initially located on four town lots in the village of Elkhorn (1889 - 1895). A new School was built about a quarter-mile from the town of Elkhorn. The School was in operation from 1889 - 1949 and was run by the Anglican Church of Canada.
